Eternal youth is a landscape of the lie

Right now I’ve got a bit of a decision to make regarding my nose operation. Even though its not something that I need to have done straight away, its something that should be done to improve my standard of life.

Today I went and enquired about what Private health care will cover before and / or after 12 months. I was told they don’t cover anything before the 12 months, so here are the options:

Option 1: Try and find $10,800 by Oct ‘09 and have the full operation. The operation includes the realignment of the septum, fixing of the turbinates and rhinoplasty of my nose. The rhinoplasty or cosmetic surgery will result in pulling my nose down allowing me to breathe a lot better through my nose and also pulling my top lip down covering my front teeth. Private Health insurance won’t cover anything because it’s before the 12 month waiting period. Once the operation is complete I will get $1,500 back from medicare.

Option 2: Try and find $4,200 by Oct ‘09 and have half the operation excluding the rhinoplasty. So this procedure will fix the insides of my nose up but I still have to put up with not breathing correctly through the nostrils. I will still eventually have to have the rhinoplasty done, but will have to have it done at a later date. Once the operation is complete I will get about $900 back from medicare.

Option 3: Go on the Public waiting list and let NSW public health pay for my operation. The NSW waiting list may or may not be long, it all depends on the urgency of the operation and the urgency of others before me. With doing the operation through the public system, NSW health will pay for everything except for the rhinoplasty. So that’s the same as Option 2 but doesn’t cost me anything but, I don’t know how long I will have to wait to have it.

Option 4: Wait for 12 months and let the private insurance cover some of my costs. I will still have to pay the original $10,800, but Private health care will refund the hospital fees of $4,200 plus a quarter of any rebate medicare will refund of the doctor’s fees. As well as the private health care refund I will also get another $1,200 back from medicare, which means the full operation will only cost me about $5,000. Still a lot of money to be out of pocket.

These options I will discuss with a number of people and try and decide what’s best for me. I have put up with this problem for so long so maybe another 12 months might not hurt, but at the same time I really want to get it corrected. I also think that by having the rhinoplasty it will give me a lot more confidence in going out and meeting new people as the rhinoplasty will improve my appearance greatly.

Yesterday the property management told me that the owners of the house are offering us two weeks free rent for the inconvenience of the damaged lounge suite. I must say that they are very generous owners considering they have paid a fair bit for the household repairs (although they do get a bit back from insurance). So Naomi and I went out shopping for lounge suites at Super Amart.

I found a lounge suite that I like for just a little bit past my price range but still affordable, also the other negative about it is that it isn’t blue, oh well, I will put up with a raisin or latte colour. I wasn’t able to find a rug that was to my satisfaction, but I might go in again on Saturday and have another look and see how well the rug colours go with the lounge colours.

I planned on getting up before midday and get started on Tafe assessments but that plan didn’t go to plan (does it ever?). Well I did wake up at 9:30am, but screw getting up that early, I was too tired, I shall go back to sleep and wake back up at around 11am. I must have been comfortable because I didn’t wake up until 12:45pm to a tradesman knocking on the front door to measure the carpet… the owners might get new carpet for the house again, and that was the start of my day.

I don’t know why I didn’t watch Big Brother UK before this year, because BBUK is awesome! I find it great that that UK show BB later in the night and it’s an hour long episode, they are able to fit so much in and show some great conflicts. I also love how they have housemates of different backgrounds and ethnicity’s, it’s very interesting on how the particular housemates avoid or argue with each other because of their ethnicity.

Today I discovered that on line pharmacies are so much cheaper than store pharmacies. To eventually save myself a little bit of money, I purchased a 50 pack of zyrtec for $38.90 (inc shipping), where as in store it would probably cost me $50 – $60. The best thing is that the on line pharmacy is a reward partner of RewardsCentral, so not only am I saving money on line, but I am receiving reward points which I can eventually cash out. Anywhere I can save money over the coming months will come in handy so much.

Thanks for reading :)
